Anders Larson Quintet feat. Gerard Presencer – Live recording

I just wanted to share a few tracks from a live concert in Copenhagen in June 2010. It´s with my quintet, featuring the amazing trumpet player Gerard Presencer. He decided to move to Copenhagen in 2009 to play with the Danish Radio Big Band, thank you for that, Gerard! Check out his solo in Coltrane´s 26-2, it is absolutely unnecessarily good…

The rest of the band consists of some of the best Danish jazz musicians, Henrik Gunde on piano, Thomas Fonnesbech on bass, and Karsten Bagge on drums.

26-2 is a classic John Coltrane composition, first presented on the album form 1960, Coltrane´s Sound (if you haven´t got it – get it!). The tune is fun and a bit challenging to play.
Sonic Silver is of course a greeting to my King 2B Silversonic. The song is to be found on my cd Unborn from 2007.
Unevil is also from the cd Unborn. It is originally written for jazz quartet and a string quartet, but on this live recording, the strings had the day off.

The recording is a simple (but decent) two-channel live recording, and the trombone and trumpet are a bit too loud compared to the rhythm section, but I suppose that makes sense on a homepage for brass players!

Hope you like the music!

The Band:
Anders Larson – trombone
Gerard Presencer – trumpet and flugelhorn
Henrik Gunde – piano
Thomas Fonnesbech – bass
Karsten Bagge – drums
