The app ChordChaser is built for you to train your ears and harmonic reflexes on a wide selection of chords.

  • Challenge yourself and your friends in Quiz Mode

  • Works on all iPhones and iPads (manufactured from 1967-)

HOW TO USE

Quiz Mode: Grow big ears and beat your friends in chord recognition. You choose the level of difficulty and can even customize your own quiz.
Randomizer: Get unpredictable chord progressions for practicing your real-time harmonic reactions. ChordChaser takes improvising to the next level!
Single Chord: Stay in one mode, explore scales, and strengthen your intonation. This is a great way to learn about the relationship between the notes and harmony.

QUIZ MODE

PURPOSE

Quiz Mode sharpens your chord recognition skills and harmonic awareness.
Identify chords by ear — from simple triads to extended jazz voicings.

HOW TO PLAY

Choose a quiz type and level:
• Triad Trials – major, minor, and sus chords
• Seven Heaven – extended chords with 7ths
• Custom – pick your own combinations
• All-In – every chord, every key, no mercy

Click Go Listen! and start the game. Guess the chord, then reveal the answer to check if your ears were right. What level can you reach?

MUSICAL OUTCOME

You’ll start to instantly recognize chord qualities — an essential skill for improvisers, arrangers, and any musician who plays by ear.

RANDOMIZER

PURPOSE

Randomizer mode is your practice partner for improvisation and chord fluency. This is my go-to mode to build up harmonic awareness.
It generates chord sequences based on your selected setup, unpredictable but musical.

HOW TO USE

Select Roots: Choose which roots to include in the pool of random chords.
Select chord types. Start out with just one or two chord types. Just saying…
Set Duration: Choose how many seconds each chord will play. You’ll hear a chime one second before the next chord. Or click the metronome icon and set tempo and number of bars per chord.
Use the Session Timer 🕓 to start a timed practice session.
You can use the Fixed order feature and swap randomness for musical order.
The Preset button lets you choose between basic chord progressions and chord type mixes.

MUSICAL OUTCOME

You will learn to hear how roots relate to each other and pinpoint chord types within milliseconds. This is a very valuable tool for improvisers.

SINGLE CHORD MODE

PURPOSE

Single Chord mode lets you focus on one chord at a time and explore matching scales. Get a feel for each note in the chord, and how it relates to the root and the other colors.

HOW TO USE

Pick a Root. You can also use the root drones on their own.
Select chord type from the chord buffet. Toggle between chords and learn to recognize their unique sound.
Enable the Matching Scale display to see scales suitable for each chord.
Turn on the metronome if you like a clicking sound while practicing.
Tap Arpeggio to hear the chord played one note at a time.

MUSICAL OUTCOME

Train your ears, improve your intonation, and strengthen your harmonic understanding, all at your own pace and with full control.

Privacy Policy — Chord Chaser

1. Data we collect

  • No personal data is collected.

  • The app may temporarily store:

    • Quiz progress & visit counters (locally on device via localStorage)

  • All data is kept locally on the users device.

2. Audio & device permissions

We request:

  • Audio playback permission (to allow sound in background and silent mode)

  • Haptics access (vibration feedback during quizzes)

  • App state listeners via Capacitor framework to support background audio

    These are system-level features only, not user surveillance or tracking.

3. Optional user actions that may share data

If you press Share, the following may be shared using:

  • A text message you edit plus a link to ChordChaser

  • This content is sent directly from your device to the app you choose (Messages, Mail, etc.)

  • We do not read, store, or log shared messages.

4. How data is stored

  • All stored data lives only on your device.

  • We do not use cookies, ads, analytics, or external tracking tools.

  • Audio files are loaded from your app bundle

5. Your privacy rights

  • You can delete all data by uninstalling the app.

  • There is no account, login, or server profile attached to this app version.

  • We cannot delete data on your behalf, since we do not store it remotely.
